Product Breakdown - Ecotrek Trail Shorts

All Aboard the Ecotrek Trail Shorts Train

Everyone’s favorite pair of travel, outdoor, you-name-it-and-they-can-do-it pants just got a shorter sibling in the LIVSN lineup right on time for spring and summer.

Our Ecotrek Trail Shorts are all set to launch this week, and within them, you’ll find all the thoughtful features of our award-winning pants within a more compact package. We launched the Ecotreks following our successful 2021 Kickstarter campaign, where they received enough public support to the tune of over $500,000 to be put into production.

As the applause and accolades rolled in for the pants version, it only made sense for us to take what was already working and apply it to shorts. The result—technical shorts that can stretch everywhere and secure everything an avid outdoorsman (or woman) could ever need.

At the heart of any piece is material, so let’s take a moment to break down precisely what goes into our proprietary Ecotrek fabric.

Our Magic Ecotrek Material

At LIVSN we believe customers should know exactly what goes into each piece of clothing they purchase. We strive to make our sustainability a core tenant upon which we build. With that in mind, here’s the essential Ecotrek fabric breakdown:

  • 70% Recycled Blue Ocean

  • 25% Nylon

  • 5% Spandex

  • PFC-Free DWR

If the phrase Blue Ocean doesn’t ring any bells, that’s to be expected as it’s a unique fabric to LIVSN Designs. With our production partners, we source this fabric from recycled ocean buoys (read the full story here) as part of a sustainability initiative with our factories.

The result is an abrasion-resistant fabric that naturally follows nature’s cues—when it’s hot, it breathes, when it’s cold, it insulates. It’s also a material that knows how to hang, not prone to bunching up or becoming overly glossy in the sunlight.

While the material can make any wearer swoon within minutes, what truly makes these shorts a keeper are their features, all subtly embedded without looking baggy or overly tactical.

Features Fit for EDC Shorts

While the comfort of the EcoTrek Shorts might stem largely from the material, it’s the design features that will make them a favorite spring and summer shorts option for years.

One of our main production principles is durability, and for the Ecotrek shorts, this means reinforcement where you need it most. All the common failure points like the back seat, seams, belt loops and pockets receive double stitching. With the diamond gusset crotch, there’s no chance of blowing them out even with the most outlandish levels of stretching and use. We also use hidden YKK lockdown zippers for an extra level of security with your belongings.

The internal drawstring has been fan-favorite feature of the Ecotrek pants, and this has been carried over to the shorts as well. With this little tweak, belts become completely optional, and it allows the user to change waist tightness on the fly.

The interior mesh liner means you’ll feel every beautiful spring breeze, and they’ll dry far faster from moisture. The industry standard C6 DWR coats these shorts as well, so they are about as water-resistant and ready as any non-swimwear piece of apparel can hope to be.

When it comes to EDC shorts, you need something that can do everything. With a surprising amount of storage, durability, and stretch, the Ecotrek shorts are perhaps our most well-rounded shorts yet.

These will be available in classic olive and caramel in waist size 29-40” waist with a 7” inseam.

Worthy Women’s Trail Shorts

We feel that women’s clothing options are unjustly limited in the current market, and are making moves to tip the scales back into balance. These shorts are our first to be offered in both male and female cuts, and we built the latter from the ground up to serve the unique fit and needs of women.

These shorts still have the same breathable, quick-drying material and features like zippered media and EDC pockets, internal drawstring, and targeted reinforcement for longevity. The primary difference of course is cut, these shorts are fitted to the natural shape and needs of a woman when compared to the men’s version.

Whether you plan to hop from summer patios to winding trails and waterfalls, the women’s Ecotreks shorts offer a unique combination of stretch, utility, and style.

The women’s line of the Ecotrek shorts will be offered in both olive and charcoal in a 0-20 waist size with a 4” inseam.

Don’t Short Yourself on Spring & Summer Shorts

When temperatures rise and outdoor options are at their absolute peak, the last thing you want to worry about is having the right apparel. We designed the Ecotreks to do just about anything you can think of around town or out in the world while keeping your body and belongings comfortable.

While we have some other surprises up our sleeves with new products this year, the Ecotrek trail shorts are the first to launch. Snag a pair while supplies last, and never worry about if you have the right pair of EDC shorts that can function and feel good in just about any situation.
