Not quite living up to the promise
I have two pair of Ecotreks, purchased a few months apart. I bought them 1) because I really needed some new pants, and 2) because they seemed to promise good quality and features, and I figured they'd be good travel pants. On the first point, we're good; on the second, not so much. First flaw: the fabric isn't holding up well. It's balling up in the obvious wear spots (knees, mostly), and looking a bit like old doubleknit. Second flaw: some button holes are shredding, mostly at the not-quite-clever-enough cuff roll-up button. These roll-up button holes started off bad, as they were far too tight for easy buttoning. Now, they're the opposite - too easy to button because a bunch of the threads have shredded. Lastly: not-quite-there EDC pockets. 'Cuz, really, for most folks EDC means a phone. Oddly, these pants are left-handed. The most capacious and secured pocket is on the left. But, a right handed person is most likely to use the phone in the right hand. So, there's an awkward hand-to-hand shift needed to store and retrieve the phone. Maybe this pocket ought to be replicated on both sides, or are all those righties desperate to have their folding knife ready at hand on the right thigh? If so, I'd prefer to have my phone easily accessible for a 911 call.
